Michael, I am hoping to start a small idea blogging sight, very little graphics and maybe a few ads. What is the best route to go down for a novice starting from scratch.

I am trying to create a website for my music production company but I am unsure on the route I should take. Is it easy to set up a site with graphics and all? I am really confused and I don’t know where to start.

There are many sites such as Jumpline or one of the major sites such as GoDaddy who offer simple site building services. For more complex sites, we highly encourage you to learn more about WordPress and choose from the many site building options that this platform offers. Good luck.

    Mika,

Thank you for your inquiry. If you want to build a web site using a Solostream solution, it is very simple.

First get a domain name for your new site.

Then make arrangements for a hosting account for your website. You need to make sure that the hosting company provides PHP version 4.3 or greater and MySQL version 4.0 or greater. You can expect to pay approximately $10 per month for this service.

Finally you purchase our WP-Magazine template for $79. Once you download the template and install it on your hosting account, you’re ready to start customizing your new magazine web site.

    Good luck with your project.

I really want to start a magazine based website. How much will it cost what do i need to obtain to get it started?

    • Emforce says:

It should only really cost you the price of a domain name and hosting, Then you can just slap wordpress onto it and start posting!

Bingo, you have a magazine based website! :)

    • Greg says:

      Here are some basic costs:

      Domain Name (1 year): $15
      Web Hosting (1 year): $70-$100
Theme for WordPress – if you buy one (one time charge): $30-$100

So, you’re looking at $85 to $150 for a WordPress based site.

I have a video interview with a web developer on my site at http://www.smallbusinessdoer.com/starting-a-website/ that goes through the technical basics of starting a web site (not why you should start or what to write).
