To setup the perfect system, you always need to understand the backbone which is users in terms of sending various level of notification at various stages. We have displayed very precise list of Roles and Capabilities along with default rights at the below.

  • Super Admin – somebody with access to the site network administration features and all other features. See the Create a Network article.
  • Administrator (slug: ‘administrator’) – somebody who has access to all the administration features within a single site.
  • Editor (slug: ‘editor’) – somebody who can publish and manage posts including the posts of other users.
  • Author  (slug: ‘author’)  – somebody who can publish and manage their own posts.
  • Contributor (slug: ‘contributor’) – somebody who can write and manage their own posts but cannot publish them.
  • Subscriber (slug: ‘subscriber’) – somebody who can only manage their profile.

Upon installing WordPress, an Administrator account is automatically created.

The default role for new users can be set in Administration Screens > Settings > General.

Above is the perfect example and guide which can really help you to assign new users a specific role which you again do that within your WordPress area. Normally the WordPress have 6 default Roles and it give ability to control each users with respective roles.

Now talking about the default Super Admin, which is again what it is by its name. It gives total control over your content, users, settings and configuration and other development and modification rights. Super Admin even can change others users roles and responsibilities.
