Hi – I am looking for a WP template and really like the look of WP-launch. One question though – is it possible to move some of the front-page sections around? For example, on the demo page, the ‘Archives’ section is at the bottom of the page but I might want it at the top instead, i.e. before ‘Site Search’

Hi Adam. Yes, you can add your own header very easily via the theme settings page. And yes, you can also remove the banner in the header very easily through the theme settings page.

I really like this design and wish to purchase it. My only concern is, I already have a website with CONTENT on it. I used a free wordpress theme for my current site. My question is: if I install “Solostream WP-Launch” will my CONTENT remain intact or will I lose it. I am looking for a template to allow me to move from wp.com to wp.org I am mostly interested in Chatter, launch, mediamag or smooth themes. I had a few questions:
1- Will this template allow me to carryover our subscriber e-mail list from the wp.com environment.
2-I will use this template to run religionnerd.com but I also have .org and .net extensions for the same site.Can I still use the single user for these domain names?
3-Can this template be customized in it’s single/multiple use formats? Or do I need the developer version even though I won’t be using this other than my own site?
4-I have many categories and at least 9 menu items/pages. Can that be managed as well?
5-I’d like to sort/feature the guest bloggers as we get more.Will it allow me to manage/feature the articles written by different bloggers?
5-Which theme do you think may best fit to my needs?

Actually, that’s not a function of any particular wordpress theme, but is rather a function of wordpress itself.

Yes, as long as it’s only one wordpress-driven site.

Yes, you can customize the theme as much as you like regardless of the particular license you choose.

Not quite sure what you mean by “can that be managed well.” Categories and Pages are managed via the the WP control panel. There are ways to exclude pages and/or categories from the navigation bars if necessary, and you’d just need to make a minor tweak to the code for those nav bars.

You can display any articles you like in the featured content section by simply adding the “featured” tag to the post.

Functionally, they’re all very similar, so it’s a matter of what your design preference is. If you’re using multiple authors, WP-Ellie is best suited for that as it offers a more developed Author profile template (e.g. http://wp-ellie.solostreamsites.com/author/admin/).

Adding forms is not really related to a particular theme. You can add a form to any WordPress site with the use of a plugin, such as MM Forms: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/mm-forms/

I’ve seen a lot of themes and I really like your designs. Very clean. What I don’t see anywhere is — how do people login? How do subscribers and, mainly, other contributors login to make comments and/or submit articles? Are these functions available on this theme? Can they be put across the top or on a menu?

Contributors would need to login the same way you login to your control panel. Not sure what you mean by subscribers though. Folks don’t need to be subscribed to access a wordpress site unless you have it set up to only be accessible to registered users, in which case, you can simply use a plugin or widget to add a login form to the sidebar.

How is the installation different for the multi-site versus the single site? Can I upgrade from a single site to a multisite by paying the difference later if I want to use it on more than one? Hi Ken. You would not be able to video to the featured area without a bit of custom coding, but it is doable.
The background color is easy to to change via the theme settings page.

I wish I’d seen Wp-Launch before I got a premium theme from another site just after Christmas – now I’ve spent my budget! I’d better get saving up, since this one has all the things that I would need (bar a colour picker) and from past experience after purchasing Wp-Smooth, the customer support is great. I also think that your theme options are incredibly impressive, especially when compared to what others offer (again, as recently experienced), which, for someone with no CSS coding know-how such as myself, is essential.
Overall very clean fresh look – good stuff.

Hi Ed. The photos you see on the demo site are for example only. They do not come with the theme. You’ll need to provide your own images for your own site. There are several places to find images online, and one that I use quite often is istockphoto.com. But a siimple google search should turn up oodles more.

Hi Marc. Some of the colors, such as the body background, top nav background and font colors can be customized via the Theme Settings Page. Anything else would need to be customized via the theme’s stylesheet, but basically, any of the colors can be changed.
Static pages is a function that’s built into WordPress, so yes, you can do that quite easily.

This is a great theme but so many of your sites use the 468 site ad…and a lot of advertisers today simply want the 728×90 Leaderboard, would be great if your themes had that option….otherwise makes using them for professional purposes a bit tought for some of us.

Thanks for the kind words and the feedback Dave. It would be pretty simple to integrate a 728×90 ad into this theme. In fact, it would be pretty simple for any of the themes. We’d be happy to help you with that.
We haven’t had that request from many of our customers and so, have not built it into the theme. It does sound like a good option for future themes though, so thanks again.

Hi Michael … my apology. Another question (this really shows how much I am interested in your theme :) .. ):
- I am looking for a theme that can be used as a blog and also as a photoblog. I am fine with the one using post-wide tag to write a blog entry with photos, but I also would like to have a gallery page with thumbnails and a page to display the full size photo after the visitor clicks on the thumbnail.
- My question is … do you recommend WP-Launch or WP-Media for this kind of usage, or would you recommend any of your other theme?

You could use either WP-Launch or MediaMag, depending on your preference. With WP-Launch, we’d just need to create a template for the gallery page for you. But that’s no big deal. Basically, it would look something like this, but it would be the WP-Launch design. - I like the use of the tag ‘post-wide’ to identify a post that we want to use the entire width of the page. I assume this means we can use bigger / wider photos as well for this kind of post?
- is this compatible with the latest WordPress 2.9x ?

Yes, if you use the “post-wide” tag, your post will show up without a sidebar (like this one), so you could do a larger image or a full-screen video. I use this function on the Solostream site a lot for videos (like this one).
And yes, it works perfectly with WP 2.9x. It’s not a function that will ever cause any problems with future WP upgrades as it’s based on a core WordPress function that likely never go away.

- can the Subscribe section be modified to add Follow me on Twitter, Join my Facebook Page, Connect with me via LinkedIn, etc?
- I assume the Flickr section, the Sponsor Ads section and Featured Video section can be removed / disabled if we don’t want it and only enable it again later if we change our mind? Is it possible?

Hi Hendra. Thanks for the kind words.
The subscribe section can be modified to add that information. It would require a bit of code wrangling, but someone in our support forum can help you with that. Also keep in mind there are links to various social media pages up in the navigation bar (right side).
Anything in the sidebar can be remove, changed, disabled or reordered. Those are all done with widgets, so it’s pretty easy.

I’ve got one question though – is the theme gettext-ready and translatable, and is it possible to use it for a non-english site or even for a bilingual (using the wonderful WPML plugin, for example) ?

Excluding the Theme Setting Page, it is gettext-ready, and it is possible to use for a non-english site. You’ll just need to create .po files for your language. It should work fine with WPML.
