Block xmlrpc from entire VPS/Dedicated server?

We just had an issue from one of our client who noted his whole server is flooded with xmlrpc process, so here are the few steps that we have suggested,

    1. Find the httpd.conf file on the server by the following command
      find / -name httpd.conf 2>/dev/null
    2. Now insert the following code to deny the process for xmlrpc.

      <Files xmlrpc.php>
      Order Deny,Allow
      Deny from all
      </Files>
    3. Make sure the sites are up,, cause sometime httpd.conf file can be crashed or needed to restart.
