Previously Answered Questions

  1. Question by Adrian F.

WP-Glide looks great. I’d like to use the alternate home page Michael mentions in the video. He says that the three widgets at the top of the page can be edited. Do you need HTML skills to do that, or can they be edited from the admin. page for the theme?

    Thanks!

    • Answer by Michael Pollock

Hi Adrian. Thanks for the kind words. The content of any widget can be edited through your WordPress control panel under Appearance >> Widgets.

  2. Question by Amy Yoffie

Can I change the colors in this theme?

    • Answer by Michael Pollock

Hi Amy. Yes, you are welcome to make any changes you like.

  3. Question by Potential Customer

    3 questions about WP-Glide:

    1. Can the home page be altered so that there are only two boxes/widgets on the top, “About Our Company” and “Connect with Us” without the video text widget in between?

    2. Can the text in the “view post” buttons be easily changed (e.g., to “read more”)?

    3. Can the glide feature be moved to the top of the page?

    • Answer by Michael Pollock

      1. It can, but it would require some customization (I assume you’d want the two boxes to be a bit wider to fill the vacant space left by removing the video box). You could also just leave it with 3 boxes and replace the video with something else.

      2. Yes, that can be done.

      3. Yes, that can be done.

  4. Question by Steve Dimmick

    Hi,
I am just wondering if you have any themes that support the new WP 3.0 menu feature?
    Thanks,
    Steve

    • Answer by Michael Pollock

Yes, all our premium themes work perfectly with WP 3.0, including the menu management function.

  5. Question by brandi

Can I change the color scheme of this layout?

    • Answer by Michael Pollock

Hi Brandi. Yes, you’re welcome to make any changes you like.

  6. Question by Jeff

    Michael –

Can the posts on the blog page be made full length?

    Thanks

    Jeff

    • Answer by Michael Pollock

      Hi Jeff. Yes, they can.

  7. Question by Dean

    Hi Michael,

My question is regarding the WP Glide theme.

I would like to use the theme for a podcast and would like to use the slide function to display these.

Can the slider display “blog posts” or “articles (aka ‘pages’)” – or can it do both?

The site would be set up as a blog, with the posts being the podcast info, and the home page would be designed using the slider and the “multiple categories” you demo’d in the video.

    Thanks,
    Dean

    • Answer by Michael Pollock

Hi Dean. The featured content area displays posts only (rather than pages). Any post you tag with the tag ‘featured’ will appear in the slider.

  8. Question by Jeff

    Michael – Theme is Great!!!!

    1. Can the color of the “View Posts” and “Submit” buttons be changed easily?

    2. Can the content on the “Connect with Us” and “Visit Our Sponsors” sidebar widgets be centered?

    Thanks

    Jeff

    • Answer by Michael Pollock

      1. Can the color of the “View Posts” and “Submit” buttons be changed easily?

Yes, if you can use Photoshop.

      2. Can the content on the “Connect with Us” and “Visit Our Sponsors” sidebar widgets be centered?

      Yes, that can be done.

  9. Question by Bryant Furlow

We’d like to switch platforms for our epiNewswire medical news webzine from Yahoo Sitebuilder to your WP-Glide template.

But being a print journalism dinosaur, I don’t know how that would work.

Can we simply upload WP-Glide to our Yahoo web hosting service and log in to Yahoo to access the WP-Glide dashboard?

    Thank you!

    • Answer by Michael Pollock

Hi Bryant. To use WP-Glide, you’d first need to set up a new WordPress site. There’s a “Getting Started with WordPress” guide here: http://www.solostream.com/how-to-get-started-with-wordpress/.

Regarding Yahoo hosting, I’ve worked with them in the past, and frankly, they’re not very WordPress-friendly. I’d suggest Hostgator instead.

  10. Question by Greg

    hi 2 questions
    1. at the top where there are 3 blocks About us / Video / Connect with us
I find that the video is very small, is there a way to make it only 2 blocks to increase the size of the video

    2. in the slider on home page there is a video, but it slide to next post while i am still on the video. is there a way to lock the slider so that they can watch the vid. Does the slider have an auto advance / right left buttons option

    Thanks

    • Answer by Michael Pollock

      Hi Greg.

      1. The video on the home page is a text widget. You could change the size , but it would require some customization of the code.

      2. The slider can easily be set to NOT auto advance if you like.

  11. Question by Bill Jones

Can I put my own logo in the header? Does this theme have a shopping cart for digital downloads i.e. e-books, icons, etc… Also, Can I make the blog page my home page. SEO optimized of course. Please let me know

    • Answer by Michael Pollock

      Hi Bill.

Yes, you can place your own logo.

No, there’s no shopping cart functionality. You’d need a 3rd party script or plugin for that.

Yes, your blog can be your home page.

      Yes, it’s SEO optimized.

  12. Question by Jeff Kurzner

Its there a way to convert the categoriy boxes into a standard menu bar in this theme?

Hi Jeff. I’m not following your question. When you say “category boxes,” what are you referring to?

  13. Question by Paolo

The purchase of a “Single Use” let me change the structure end css codes of the theme? Obviously, just for my use.

    • Answer by Michael Pollock

Yes, the single use license allows you to modify the theme as much as you like.

  14. Question by Bassem

Hey love the theme but have few questions:

1- can i add links to my more social media channel than what already exists in the contact with us section, i.e.: youtube (is this section a plug-in or built in the theme?)

2- how do the drop menus work and how do you choose what page or post it goes too?

    • Answer by Michael Pollock

The social media icons are built into the theme. You can add more if you like, but you’d have to add the code to the template.

The drop-down menus are composed of sub-pages of the main page.

  18. Question by J. Medley

    Love this theme. Two questions:

    1. Is it possible to modify the slider to resemble the slider in your media mag theme?
    2. Is this theme compatible with buddypress?

    Thank you! –J

    • Answer by Michael Pollock

      Thanks J.

      >> Is it possible to modify the slider to resemble the slider in your media mag theme?

It can be done, but it’s rather tricky and a bit time consuming. Would require quite a bit of custom coding.

      >> Is this theme compatible with buddypress?

      No, not compatible with Buddypress.
