Call-to-action buttons (CTA) are the buttons that guide your website visitors towards your goal conversion. The most common buttons are “Sign up”, “Download” and “Add to cart”. Here are a few tips on how you can improve performance of your call-to-action buttons.

Call-to-action buttons

Test your button design.

Your call-to-action buttons should stand out from your content. The most popular colors for the CTA buttons are green and orange, but you can play with other colors, depending on the background of your website. Make sure to test several color options for the best conversion result.

Do not forget about white space surrounding your CTA button. It also helps your button to stand out. Test different button and text sizes and forms.

Write action-oriented titles.

Instead of words “Continue”, “Enter” or “Submit” use more driving words like “Get”, “Try”, “Book”, “Download”. Don’t make your titles too short or too long. The ideal length is between two and five words.

Create a sense of urgency.

Sense of urgency is a great sales tactics that helps customers make decisions. “Book now” works better than simple “Book”. But if you add phrases like “Only ten tickets left”, “The price will increase in 22:34:15 hours” with a countdown, or “The last chance to register”, conversion will be the highest of all three variants.

Repeat call-to-action buttons.

It is not enough to have one CTA button on a page. Home pages of many websites are too long for it. When your website visitors scroll down a page, they should have an opportunity to click on the CTA button without scrolling back. Inner pages are also a good placement for your CTA buttons. Remind your visitors on the desired action on every page. It must be easy to become your customer.
