What shows up in the page and cat menu is quite easy. All you need to do is include or exclude pages for those menus. Most of that stuff can be found in the Wordpress codex.

Open header.php in your theme folder.

For the page menu find:

Change to:

Put the page numbers that you want included where the 1,2,3 ID numbers are.

For categories menu find:

Change to:

Once again, change 1,2,3 to the categories ID numbers you want included in the menu.

We are working on styling the new threaded comments feature and we will get that out as soon as we possibly can.

With regard to plugins, there is not a lot we can do to help since there are so many plugins developed for WordPress. Our recommendation is to invest the time necessary to see if there are any know problems with the plugins that you are using before switching over to 2.7 for a client site.

Another bit of advice would be to install WordPress and the site locally. Then you can fully test before making changes on the public site. This will give the chance to deal with any technical issues without the pressure of having a live site that does not function properly.

We intend to post an update by the end of the week with support for threaded, styled comments and gravatars by the end of the week (we were slowed down with this effort when we decided to update all of our themes at once). By next week, we will release a whole new collection of lighter colors that will be available through the Vybe GUI.

Once we complete those, we are going to take a short pause with Vybe and then evaluate all the user comments and suggestions in order to prepare ourselves to begin work on a WP-Vybe 2.0 release. Our expectations is that release will occur during March.

Your learning curve is going to be about the same with with either WP-Vybe or Wp-Clear. WP-Clear only comes with one color choice however so that does simplify things. If you are looking for more color choices and like the layout, then WP-Smooth should be considered. You’ll get the same amount of support for either one.

So for the one that you like the best. They are all great choices.

One last thing - Is there any option on Smooth where the color isn’t “textured?” I do like having the option of having some color behind the body of the template (essentially, bordering it). But the textured thing, while interesting, isn’t my cup of tea.

Yes, as part of the standard WordPress functionality, you can manage contributors who have different function/permission levels for working with the site. You manage this through the Users set up page.
